Why us

What Makes Us Different

Most band apps start with a band. We start with you — a real chart library, then setlists, recording, albums, and promotion in the same home.

Plenty of tools organize a private band calendar or setlist. The Band Plan is built for musicians who also need charts to learn from, a profile that isn’t trapped inside one band, and a way to promote and book without hiring an agency.

Not just another band organizer

  • Ops-only apps — great at chat, RSVPs, and gig logistics; empty until you build every song yourself
  • Promo agencies — packages and forms; not a place you rehearse, record, or release
  • Brochure sites — a pretty page with no setlists, charts, or venue outreach behind it

We lean the other way: musician home + chart library + record / release / promote, wired through media libraries — with a free tier that covers the weekly work.

The differences

Community song library — 1,700+ charts

A shared catalog of songs bands actually play. Browse, collect into your Song Collection or a band book, and take charts onstage — not an empty private list with a few external links. Browse songs.

Social media automation

Schedule posts to Instagram, Facebook, and X from your band’s media library — photos, videos, and show recordings you already captured. AI drafts use your band description, campaign descriptions, booking pitch, and bios so posts sound like your band, not generic filler. Promo isn’t a separate app.

Public band pages & press kits

Free self-serve EPK: add your bio, photos, videos, members, booking contact, and upcoming shows. Start a mailing list. Look bookable without outsourcing the presence. See band pages · How band promotion works.

Recording for songs and sets

Capture or upload rehearsals and gigs, split a full-set take into the songs you played, and keep those recordings next to the charts — not stranded in a phone folder.

Idea recording into daily sessions

Capture riffs and half-formed songs into day sessions — on your profile or with a band. When you record, we prompt you to name the take by microphone (or type it) so nothing lands as another untitled file. Your idea is online immediately to play or share. Takes group by day, with room to cluster song-ideas later — not one big flat list of unnamed stuff, and not stranded in a phone folder you’ll never sort.

A strong musician profile — separate from your bands

Collect the songs and charts you play, share your list with promoters, and pull your songs and recordings into bands when you’re ready. Keep idea recordings organized in day sessions, and save favorite tutorials from the Woodshed to learn beside your charts. Most competitors are “create a band → everything lives there.”

Album releases — integrated with recording

Turn takes into albums fans can stream (and tip). Free plans include up to three published albums per band — publishing isn’t locked behind a paid wall. You retain all rights to your recordings — we host them; we don’t take ownership.

A powerful free tier

This is probably the biggest differentiator versus other band-planning sites. Free gives your band unlimited songs and setlists, the EPK / press kit, album releases (up to three per band), recording and splitting, venue outreach, social tools, and Music Stand — enough to run the week without paying. We just want to help make music happen. Upgrade when you need more storage, more albums, or more bands — not for permission to organize, perform, or promote. See plans.

Integrated through media libraries

Photos, videos, recordings, and artwork feed the press kit, social queue, and album releases from one place. The planner, the recording night, and Monday’s promo share the same library.

Community — growing on purpose

The chart library and directories are real; broader community (discovery, connections) is still early. We lead with the library and the tools you use every week — and keep building the network around them.
