Albums let you release your music on your public band page with artwork, credits, a player and links to Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music. An album starts as a private draft and only goes live when you publish it, so you can take your time with the tracks, artwork, description and credits.
Creating, editing, publishing and deleting albums needs the Principal or Core role (by default). Any band member can open the album page and its play stats.
Create an album
Pick whichever starting point fits:
- From scratch: on your band page's Albums section click New Album (or Create Album if you don't have any yet), or go to Albums → Add your album. Enter a Title and an optional Release date and time, then click Create Album. You land on the album's edit page.
- From the setlist player: click Turn this playlist into an album. The takes go on in playlist order, and you can fill in the album details on the same form. Tick the rights confirmation and click Create album. See Turning a set into an album.
- From a song recording: on a band song's recording page, click Add to Album under Actions. Pick an album or create a new one. The song goes on the album with that recording as its audio. If the song is already on that album, you're asked whether to use this recording instead. Add to Album only appears on original audio recordings, not on video or on trimmed, normalized or amplified versions.
Leave the release date blank if you want to publish later.
Album details
On the album's edit page (Edit Album), under Album details:
- Title, Release date and time, Description and Credits
- Listen & purchase elsewhere: Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music album links for fans who want to stream or buy the release elsewhere. Playback on The Band Plan still uses your own track audio.
- Voluntary support: let listeners tip you through Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, with an optional suggested amount (fans can choose any amount). Set up your payment details first under band settings → Get Paid. The tip box only shows on the player once they're set up.
- Album artwork and Header image (the player banner): paste a URL or upload a file
Click Save album info.
Renaming a published album changes its public web address. Links you've already shared stop working, so you'll be asked to confirm before saving.
Tracks
Under Album tracks, add songs from your repertoire in the Available songs column. Drag them across or tap +, then drag the tracks into order. Each song can appear once per album.
Then pick each track's audio on the album page with Select audio:
- Recording Splits: a take from your band's setlist recordings (skipped takes and video aren't listed)
- Song Recordings: an original recording made on the song's page
- Enter URL: a direct link to an audio file (.mp3, .wav). The page checks the link as you type. Streaming pages like Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, YouTube or cloud-share pages won't play. Put those under Listen & purchase elsewhere instead.
- Upload File: up to 100 MB, with a rights confirmation
- Clear Audio: removes the track's audio
Tracks without audio show No Audio on the player.
Removing a track (the trash button on the edit page) hides it and keeps its play counts. If you add the song back later, it returns with its play counts and its recording or URL audio. Uploaded audio is deleted when you remove a track, so you'd need to upload it again.
Publish
Tick Publish this album (visible on your public band page) and confirm you have the rights to publish, including any mechanical licenses for covers. The cover licensing note links to easysong.com, where you can get licenses.
- The album page shows Published or Draft. On your band page's album list, a published album with a future release date shows as Scheduled.
- Before the release date, your public band page shows the album as Coming Soon with a countdown. Going straight to the album's link shows a Coming soon page with a live countdown and the release time in the visitor's own time zone. The album opens automatically when the countdown ends.
- The public album page is at
/your-band/album-name. It works once the album is published, your band page is public, and the release date (if any) has passed. - Albums from public bands appear in the site-wide Albums catalog once they're published and released.
To take an album down, untick Publish and save. You'll need to confirm the rights again when you republish.
Share before release
View Player on the album page opens a private player link. It works for anyone with the link, even for drafts, so you can share a mix with the band before you publish. A future release date blocks this: until that date the link shows the Coming soon countdown to everyone, band members included, so leave the date empty while you're sharing a draft.
Plays and limits
- Each track shows its play count on the album page, and a Plays panel appears once there's at least one play. Song statistics lists plays for every album track (including removed ones), which you can use when buying mechanical licenses.
- A play counts as partial after 10 seconds or half the track, and as full when the track plays to the end.
- The number of published albums depends on the band's plan (the highest plan held by any member). Your band page shows how many you've used. When you reach the limit, Limit Reached replaces the New Album button, and you can't start new albums until you unpublish one or upgrade.
- Uploaded artwork, header images and track files count toward your storage.
Delete an album
At the bottom of the edit page, under Danger Zone, click Delete album. This permanently deletes the album, its tracks, its uploaded audio and images, and all of its play counts. Check Song statistics first if you need the numbers for licensing. Your songs and recordings stay in the band.
