Once a set is split, you can tidy up each take: trim off the count-in and the applause, cut out a false start, or split a medley into separate songs.
Who can do this: by default the Principal and Core roles.
All of these start from a take's buttons or its menu in the playlist on the recording page.
Trim or cut
Choose Trim or cut from the take's menu. The first time, the page builds a waveform for the take, which takes about 30 seconds to a minute.
- Select: click and drag on the waveform to mark a range. The Selection box shows its start and end, and how much you'd keep either way.
- Choose what to do with the selection:
- Trim keeps the selection and throws away everything before and after it. Use it to lose the count-in and the applause.
- Cut deletes the selection and joins the two ends together. Use it to remove a false start or a long gap in the middle.
- Confirm. The take is processed and you're taken back to the recording page.
This replaces the take's file and can't be undone. If you're not sure, Download the take from its menu first.
To get around the waveform:
- Zoom: the slider, + and −, or the mouse wheel over the waveform.
- Pan: hold Option (or Alt) while dragging. Note that this is different from the split page, which uses Cmd/Ctrl.
- Play and Restart to listen; Clear in the Selection box to start the selection over.
Limits: a trim must keep at least 1 second, a cut must be at least 0.2 seconds long, and a cut can't leave less than 1 second.
Video takes: if you chose Also create audio versions when splitting, the audio version is a separate take. Trimming the video doesn't change it, so trim the audio take as well.
Split this take
Split this take cuts one take into smaller pieces, for example a medley you split as one song, or two songs played without a break. It opens the same editor as Splitting a set recording, showing just this take:
- Mark each piece (Shift + drag, or Auto-Detect Songs).
- Assign a song to each piece. Use Add new song for a song that isn't in the setlist.
- Click Process Splits.
The pieces replace the original take in the player, and the original is deleted. Anything you didn't mark and assign is lost with it.
Not available for YouTube recordings.
Other fixes
- Wrong song: open the take with View, then Reassign song.
- Don't want it in the player: Skip hides it without deleting it; Un-skip brings it back.
- Start the whole set over: Delete All and Re-Split on the recording page deletes every take but keeps the full recording.
