The setlist player plays your band's recorded takes of a setlist: every song you've split from every recording of it, in one playlist. Use it to review a gig, share it with the band, or build an album.
Opening the player
On the setlist page, the Recordings and Photos panel shows Audio player once you have audio takes. If you recorded video or imported a YouTube link, there's also Video player. The setlist's recordings page has the same buttons.
Once you're in, the Audio player, Video player and Photos tabs at the top switch between the players and the setlist's photos.
Sharing
Band members can always open the player. Anyone else needs the share link:
- Click Share in the player.
- Click Copy in the Share Playlist box.
Anyone with the link can listen, see the video player and browse the photos. The link doesn't expire. Each take also has View track (), a page for just that take with its own Share button.
Playing
- Tap a song to play it. Play carries on to the next song by itself.
- Previous, Restart and Next sit under the player. On a phone, the lock screen shows what's playing and its next and previous buttons work.
- The song that's playing is shown under the player, linked to its chart.
What's in the playlist
- Audio player: every audio take from every recording of this setlist. Takes don't need a song assigned.
- Video player: video takes, plus any YouTube recordings.
Skipped takes are left out of both. Takes play oldest recording first, in the order they happened. Once someone reorders the playlist, that order is used, and new takes are added at the end.
If there's nothing to play yet, the player says so. Takes land on the player when you choose Add to player, Assign to Song or Split on a recording. See Uploading setlist recordings.
Who can reorder and skip: by default the Principal and Core roles. Other members and share-link listeners don't see these controls. If you can, the playlist header reads Drag to reorder · How skipping works.
Reordering
Drag a take by its song name to move it (on a phone, press and hold first). The new order saves for everyone, and you'll see Playlist order saved.
Skipping songs
Skip a take you don't want in the player, like a false start, a train wreck, or a song you played twice.
- To skip: click the skip icon () on the song's row, or open the row's menu () and choose Skip.
- It's skipped for everyone. The song disappears from the player for every band member and for anyone using a shared player link.
- Nothing is deleted. The recording and the take stay on the recording page.
- To bring it back: the player can only skip. Click View this split () on any take from the same recording, then Recording to reach the recording page, and click Un-skip () on the skipped take. You can also get to the recording page from Add and Manage Recordings on the setlist page.
- Play order: if anyone reorders the player while a song is skipped, the song loses its spot. After you un-skip it, check where it landed and drag it back into place.
Promoting a take
The rocket button (Add as song link) adds a take to the song's links, so it shows on the public song page as a reference recording. Once it's linked, the row shows On song. This needs the Principal or Core role (by default), and the take needs a song assigned.
Listen offline
In the audio player, Listen Offline saves every track to your device so you can listen without a connection, for example in the van. Anyone who can open the player can use it, including share-link listeners. You'll be told roughly how much space it takes; use Wi-Fi if you can. When it's done, the button reads Available Offline, with when it was saved and how many tracks.
Offline listening isn't available in the video player, or in browsers that can't store data offline.
Turn this playlist into an album
Turn this playlist into an album creates a draft album with the playlist's takes already attached, in player order. It's also linked from the Share box. Skipped takes, video, takes without a song, and repeat takes of the same song are left out (albums allow one take per song), and the form lists what was left out and why. This needs the Principal or Core role (by default). See Making albums.
Other buttons
- View this split () opens the take's own page, with Trim or cut, Split this take, Reassign song and Download. See Trimming, cutting and splitting takes.
- The song icon () opens the band song page.
- Lyrics and chart () opens the song's chart. Share-link listeners get it too.
- In the video player, Add to media library () saves a clip to your band's media library. Not available for YouTube takes.
The player has no download button, speed control or shuffle. To download a take, open it with View this split.
