Your band's songs

The band song page

Your band's version of a song: key and tempo, charts for Music Stand, preferred links, and recordings.

Every song in your repertoire has a band song page: the song as your band plays it. Open it by clicking a song in your repertoire, or with the Song button on a setlist. Only band members can see it.

The page has two layers:

  • The library song, shared by every band that plays it: title, artist, charts, links, genre.
  • Your band's version: key, BPM, duration, vocalist, notes, and which chart, video and audio the band prefers. Changing these doesn't affect anyone else.

Song info

At the top you'll see Artist, Duration, BPM, Vocalist, Key and Band notes. If you can edit band songs, click any value (or Add) to change it in place. These values belong to your band. Until you set one, the library song's value is shown.

Durations add up into the set and setlist totals on your setlist page.

Charts

Every chart for the song is listed with its type, version and who made it.

  • Make primary makes a chart the one shown on Music Stand for this song.
  • Pills such as Music Stand, Music Stand 2 and Music Stand 3 show which preference slot each chart fills. Slots let a band keep, say, a chord chart for guitar in slot 1 and a lead sheet for horns in slot 2.
  • The gear button opens Music Stand preferences, with a dropdown for each slot. If no chart is chosen, the most recently updated one is used. Slot 2 falls back to slot 1.
  • New chart creates a chart. Only a chart's creator (or a site moderator) can edit or delete it.

YouTube videos, audio, MIDI, tutorials and more. Use Add link to add one (type, optional description, URL).

Make preferred (for YouTube, audio and MIDI links) chooses what plays for this song in the setlist YouTube Playlist, Audio Playlist and Practice page. The gear button opens the same preferences as dropdowns. For audio you can choose from recording splits, song recordings or audio links.

Who can set preferences: choosing preferred charts, videos and audio needs the Core or Principal role (by default).

Record your version

The sidebar's Record Your Version panel has Record Audio, Record Video and Import Recording, plus See Recordings. See Recording songs.

  • Actions: Add to my collection (keeps the song in your own collection too), suggest genre and tags, request a change to the library song, add it to your other bands, or Remove from repertoire.
