Our newsletter comes from The Band Plan Newsletter (newsletter@thebandplan.com). Updates from a band you follow come from the same address, with the band's name as the sender, so these steps work for them too.
If our emails are landing in Gmail's Promotions or Updates tab, you can tell Gmail to put them in your Primary inbox from now on.
In your Spam folder?
Open the email in Spam and click Not spam (on the mobile app, tap Report not spam). That moves it to your inbox and tells Gmail you want our mail. Then follow the steps below if it lands in Promotions.
On a Computer (Web Browser)
Follow these steps to move our newsletter to your Primary inbox:
Open your Gmail inbox in your web browser.
Click the Promotions tab at the top of your email list.
Check the checkbox next to the newsletter email.
Right-click on the email and select "Move to tab" then "Primary".
Look for a confirmation prompt that says: "Do you want to do this for future messages from this sender?"
Click Yes or OK.
Success! All future newsletters from us will now automatically appear in your Primary inbox.
On the Gmail Mobile App (iOS & Android)
You can achieve the same result using the menu options in the app:
- Open the Gmail app.
- Open the email from us.
- Tap the three vertical dots menu (more options icon) usually found in the top-right corner.
- Tap Move to.
- Select Primary.
The Gmail app learns from this action; moving several emails this way over time will teach Gmail to send all future messages from us to your Primary inbox automatically.
Alternative: Add Us to Your Contacts
Adding our email address to your Google Contacts helps signal to Gmail that your emails are important and desired, improving delivery to the primary inbox.
- Open an email from us in Gmail.
- Hover over the sender's name (The Band Plan Newsletter, or the band's name).
- Click the Add to Contacts icon that appears (it looks like a small person with a + symbol).
Pro Tip: This method works on both desktop and mobile, and is the most reliable way to ensure our emails always reach your Primary inbox.

Gmail uses machine learning to categorize emails. When you move our newsletters to Primary or add us to your contacts, you're teaching Gmail that these emails are important to you. This helps ensure:
- Future newsletters automatically go to your Primary inbox
- You don't miss important updates and announcements
