A band is where your shared repertoire, setlists, recordings and albums live. Solo acts create a band too; it's just a band of one.
Create the band
Start from any of these:
- My Bands (
/bands): Create band - Your home page: Create your first band or Create Another Band
- The Setlists window on your home page, which has a small built-in form
- If you entered an act name when you registered, your first band already exists
The Create a Band form asks for:
- Band name (required)
- Description (optional)
- Type: Band, Open mic, or Course (defaults to Band)
Click Create band.
What happens next
- You're the owner, with the Principal role.
- The band starts out private. Nothing is public until you set up your band profile and choose to publish it.
- If it's your first band, it becomes your favorite band.
- You land on the band page, ready for the next steps: add songs, invite members, and build a setlist.
Invite band members
- On the band page, open the Members panel and click Invite.
- Enter their Email, choose a Role (Member by default; you can change it later) and add an optional message.
- Click Send invite.
What happens depends on whether they already have an account:
- They already have an account: they're added to the band straight away and get a notification email.
- They don't: they get an invitation email that's good for 7 days. Pending invitations are listed under the Invite button, where you can resend (which resets the 7 days) or cancel them.
Invitations are tied to an email address; there's no general "anyone can join" link. By default, the Principal, Core and Manager roles can invite people.
Roles
Each member has a role that controls what they can do: Principal, Core, Member, Manager, Crew or Sub. For example, by default only Principal and Core can create setlists, split recordings or reorder the setlist player. You can change a member's role later, except the Principal's. See Band members.
Plan limits
The Free plan lets you create up to 3 bands; Pro and Premium are unlimited. Bands you've been invited to don't count. If you hit the limit, you'll be offered an upgrade on the pricing page.
