Your band

Editing your band profile

Band name, description, booking pitch, contact details and tip handles, and where each one shows up.

Your band profile holds the band's name, description, booking pitch, contact details and tip handles. They show on your public page, and the booking pitch also feeds venue outreach and social posts.

Open it

Click Edit band profile under the band name at the top of your band's page, then choose the Contact & booking tab. By default, Principal, Core and Manager members can edit it. See Members and permissions.

The other two tabs are Public page, covered in Editing your band's public page, and Music identity, covered in Band identity.

Click Update band at the bottom to save. If something's wrong, like an email address that isn't valid, the page tells you and keeps what you typed.

Basic information

  • Band name: required. It's the name used everywhere, including your public page.
  • Description: a short line about the band. It shows on your card in the public Bands directory. It also shows in About on your public page if you haven't written a bio.
  • Type: Band, Open mic or Course. You get the same tools whichever you pick.
  • Website URL: adds a Visit Website button to your public page. Include https://.

Booking pitch

Write a few paragraphs about what makes your band worth booking and what kinds of shows you want. The pitch is used in several places:

  • In Venue outreach, it fills in the message when you log a first contact or rebooking by email or a website contact form.
  • The AI uses it when it drafts outreach messages and social media posts.
  • It goes into the text summary inside your public page's press pack.

The more specific it is, the better those drafts turn out.

Booking contact

  • Contact name, Contact email and Contact phone show on your public page behind Show Contact Information, so spam bots can't collect them.
  • The contact name also goes into AI-drafted outreach messages.

Get paid

Add any of these to turn on a tip jar on your public band, gig and album pages:

  • Venmo handle: your username without the @.
  • PayPal.me handle: the name after paypal.me/.
  • Zelle email or Zelle phone.

Fans pay you directly through that service, and The Band Plan never handles the money. To see who clicked to pay, read Payment attempts.
