Setlists

Practice Page

Charts next to a video or audio player with speed control, for a setlist or your own collection.

The Practice page puts each song's chart next to a player for its video or audio, so you can play along. There's one for each band setlist, and one for your personal song collection.

Band setlist Practice

On the setlist page, click Practice. Use Copy Link to share it; the link works without an account, just like Music Stand.

At the top you'll see how many songs have something to play ("N of M songs with playback"). Each song card shows the chart, the key, a Song page link, and Play (or "No media" if the song has nothing to play).

What plays

Each song plays one thing. YouTube comes first:

  1. YouTube: the band's preferred YouTube link. Otherwise the song's own videos come before karaoke and backing tracks, with tutorials last, and the newest wins among links of the same kind.
  2. Audio, only if there's no YouTube video: the band's preferred audio, otherwise the song's first audio link

Choose preferred media on each band song page. Maybe songs play last, after the numbered sets.

The player

  • Hide player / Show controls
  • Skip back or forward 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds
  • Mark a spot and jump back to it, which is great for looping a tricky section
  • Playback speed from 0.25× to 2×, to slow down a fast part

Charts

Practice uses the same chart choices as Music Stand, including the Preference set and Instrument dropdowns. Transposing works the same way too: Principal, Core and Member (by default) save it for the band, and everyone else, including share-link visitors, saves it on their own device. As on Music Stand, only each song's main chart carries the band transpose; any other chart transposes on your device only.

How it differs from Music Stand

Practice adds the player. It doesn't have auto-scroll, Jump, keyboard shortcuts, recording or printing. Use Music stand in the header to switch over.

Personal Practice

Your profile has a Practice page for your own song collection, in the order you added the songs. Open it from your profile or go to /profile/practice. You need at least one song in your collection.

  • Share copies a link you can send to anyone. If your profile and your song list are both public, it's the public Practice page on your musician page; otherwise it's a private link.
  • Charts: each song shows its default chart, otherwise a chords chart, otherwise any chart.
  • Playback: its best YouTube link, otherwise your own recording, otherwise an audio link.
  • Transposing: on your own Practice page, transposes save to your song collection, the same as on a chart's page. People using your share link only transpose on their own device.
