Your musician page is a public page about you as a player, separate from any band. It lives at thebandplan.com/musicians/your-name and shows what you play, where you're based, your public bands and, if you choose, the songs you know. It's private until you turn it on.
To see how it looks to visitors, read Public musician pages.
Turn it on
Either of these works:
- On your profile page, flip the Public profile switch. It saves straight away.
- Click Edit Profile and flip the Public switch in Profile visibility at the top. This also saves straight away.
If you don't have a page address yet, one is made from your username. Once it's public, View Public Profile opens the page.
To hide it again, flip the same switch off. The address stays reserved for you.
Choose your address
In Edit Profile, under Public profile, type the part after thebandplan.com/musicians/ in Your Public URL, then click Save Changes.
- Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only, at least 3 characters, and don't start or end with a hyphen.
- If someone else already has it, you'll see "This URL is already taken by another user."
- If you leave it empty and save with Make my profile public on, an address is made from your username.
Changing the address breaks any old links you've shared, so pick one you'll keep.
What shows on the page
Everything comes from things you fill in elsewhere. Empty sections are left out.
| Section | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Photo, name, instruments, location | Your primary photo, username, Instruments and Location in Edit Profile. |
| About | Bio in Edit Profile. |
| My Act | My Act Name in Edit Profile. Shows only when that band's page is public. |
| Bands | Every band you're in whose page is public. Private bands never appear. |
| Photos | Your photos set to Show in the media library. The section appears once there's more than one. |
| Videos | Your videos set to Show in the media library. |
| Song List | Your saved songs, if you share your list publicly. See below. |
| Connect | Contact About Opportunities and Visit Website, when they apply. |
Your email address, phone number and private bands are never shown.
My Act
My Act Name is your main performing name, solo or band. The first time you fill it in, The Band Plan creates a private band with that name and makes you its Principal. Changing the name later renames that band. If another band already has the name, you'll be asked to confirm or pick a different one.
To show it on your musician page, make the band's page public. See Your public page.
Photos and videos
In Edit Profile, click Open media library. Upload photos and videos, mark one photo as primary for the top of the page, and set each one to Show or Hide on your public page.
Let people contact you
In Edit Profile, turn on Open to music opportunities and click Save Changes. Your page then shows a Contact button and an Open to Opportunities badge.
Signed-in members can send you a message through the form. It arrives by email with their username and email address so you can reply directly. Your own email isn't shown to them.
Turn it off and the Contact buttons disappear.
Share your song list
On your profile page, open Share on your Song Collection and turn on Show on public profile. Your page gets a Song List section, and anyone can view, practice and listen through your songs. Private songs are never included.
If your musician page was still private, turning this on makes it public too, and you'll see a note saying so. For more, see Sharing your collection.
Tips
- Fill in Instruments and Location so people searching Community → Musicians know what you play and where.
- Keep your bio short and specific: styles, years playing, who you've played with.
- Make your main band's page public so My Act links to it.
- Turn on Open to opportunities only while you're taking gigs or sessions.
