Musicians on The Band Plan can turn on a public page at thebandplan.com/musicians/their-name. It shows what they play, where they're based, the bands they're in, and the songs they know. Anyone can open it, no account needed.
Find musicians
Click Community in the top bar and pick Musicians to see everyone with a public page, sorted by name. Each card shows:
- their photo, name and location,
- a short bio,
- up to three of their public bands,
- Open to opportunities, if they're looking for gigs, collaborations or sessions,
- Plays: the instruments they've listed.
Click a card to open their page. If someone hasn't made their page public, the address shows "This musician profile doesn't exist or isn't available yet."
What's on the page
The top shows their photo, name, instruments and location. If they're open to opportunities, there's a Contact button; if they have a website, there's a Website button.
Below that, you'll see whichever of these they've filled in:
- About: their bio.
- My Act: their main act, if they've named one and its page is public. Click it to open the band's public page.
- Bands: every public band they're in. Bands that aren't public don't appear.
- Photos: shown when they've added more than one.
- Videos: YouTube, Vimeo and uploaded videos play right on the page.
- Song List: how many songs they know, if they've chosen to share their list.
- Connect: Contact About Opportunities and Visit Website.
Their email address and phone number are never shown on the page.
Browse their songs
If the page has a Song List section, you can:
- View song list to see every song they've saved. Filter by title, artist, key or genre, change the sort order, and click a song to open it.
- Practice to work through their songs with the charts next to a video or audio player. See Practice Page.
- Listen to play through their songs.
It's handy for finding out what a new bandmate or a fill-in player already knows before the first rehearsal.
Contact a musician
When a musician is open to opportunities, you can send them a message through The Band Plan:
- Click Contact or Contact About Opportunities. You'll need to sign in first; if you're not signed in, the button takes you to sign in and then brings you back.
- Fill in a Subject (at least 5 characters), like "Sub needed for June 14", and a Message (at least 20 characters). Be specific about dates, venues, pay or what you're looking for.
- Click Send Message.
The musician gets your message by email, along with your username and email address, so they can reply to you directly. Your email is only shared with them when you send.
If a musician isn't open to opportunities, there's no Contact button. You can still reach out through one of their bands' pages or their website.
