The song page

Song details, links, charts and recordings for a song in the library.

Every song in the library has a song page (/songs/123). It's the hub for that song: its details, all of its charts, its links, and buttons to save, record or add it to a band. Anyone can open it. Signing in lets you add to it.

You get there by clicking a song's title, from search, or from Back to Song on a chart.

Tip: Want to play along? Open a chart from the Charts list. The performance doc page puts the chart and the video side by side.

Song info

The top panel shows Artist, Duration, BPM, Vocalist and Key. Click the artist to see their other songs.

Signed in, you can fill in anything that's missing: click Add, enter the value, and it saves straight away. Values that are already set are protected. See Editing library songs and charts.

Charts

Charts lists every chart for the song: chord charts, lyrics, tabs, lead sheets and sheet music, each with its version and who made it. Click one to open it.

  • New chart (signed in) starts a new chart for the song.
  • If you made a chart, you'll see buttons to edit or delete it.
  • No charts yet? Signed in, click Create the first one.

Tip: Not happy with any of the charts? Make your own. Open the closest one and click Improve this chart to start from a copy, so you don't have to type it all again. See Make your own version.

Links collects the song's YouTube videos, audio files, Spotify and other music services, tutorials, backing tracks, karaoke versions and more.

  • View plays or shows the link here on the site.
  • Open goes to the original site in a new tab.
  • Audio files play right in the list.

Signed in, use Add link: pick a Type, add an optional Description (like "Official video" or "Live version"), paste the URL, and click Add.

Record your version

Record this song records an audio or video take of you playing it, saved to your personal collection. It's free to start. See Recording songs in your profile.

Actions

  • Add to my list (or Add to my collection when you're signed in) saves the song. See Collecting songs.
  • Add to my bands adds it to one or more of your bands' repertoires. You need to be signed in and in a band.
  • Suggest genre & tags (signed in) fills in the genre and gig tags automatically. If the tags are locked, your suggestion goes to a moderator.
  • Request change (signed in) asks a moderator to fix the title, artist, key, duration, BPM, genre or sub-genre, with an optional reason.

Details

Details shows the genre, who added the song and when, and its tags (era, event format, cover approach, moment on the gig). These tags power the Browse buttons and Advanced filters on the Songs page. See Finding songs.

Signed in, Edit opens the song's full details form. For who can change what, see Editing library songs and charts.

In a band

A band's songs have their own version of this page, with the band's key and notes, its recordings, and its choice of chart for the Music Stand. See The band song page.
