Collecting songs before you register

Save songs as a guest and keep them when you create an account.

You can start a song list before you have an account. Browse the catalog, save the songs you play, practice them, and share the list. When you sign up, the list comes with you.

Save songs

  • Collect mode: go to Start your Song Collection (/songs/collect) and click any song card to add it. Click it again to remove it. The Song Collection button at the top shows how many you've saved.
  • From a song or chart page: click Add to my list. Once a song is saved, you'll see In your list, with View my list and Remove buttons.

No account is needed. If you've saved songs, the home page reminds you: "You have N songs saved — view your list."

My List

My List (/my-list) shows everything you've saved, newest first.

  • Search by title or artist, or filter by style.
  • Click a song to open it. Songs with a chart open straight to the chart.
  • Practice opens your songs with their charts and a video or audio player. See Practice Page.
  • Listen plays through your songs.
  • Add more takes you back to collect mode.

Share your list

Copy the link under Share your list and send it to anyone. People don't need an account to open it, and they can use Practice and Listen too. They'll see it as an anonymous musician's list, with a button to start their own.

Your list lives in this browser

Until you sign up, your list is tied to this browser on this device, using a cookie that lasts 90 days. That means:

  • It won't appear on your phone if you made it on your laptop.
  • Clearing your browser's cookies loses the list.
  • Delete my list (at the bottom of My List) clears it on purpose. This can't be undone.

To keep your list for good and use it on any device, sign up.

Keep your list when you sign up

On My List, click Email me a sign-in link (or Sign In if you already have an account). Your saved songs are copied into your Song Collection the moment you're signed in, whether you:

  • register with email and password,
  • use an emailed sign-in link,
  • sign in to an existing account, or
  • sign in with Google.

Songs already in your collection aren't duplicated. After that, your list on this browser is cleared, and your collection lives in your account.

Signing up also unlocks the things My List shows as locked: setlists, bands, and a public musician page. See Registering and invites.
