Let fans tip your band with Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, right from your public pages. Every time someone clicks a tip button, The Band Plan keeps a record so you can see who tried to pay, how much and from where.
Who can use it
Setting up payment info and seeing payment attempts takes the Principal, Core or Manager role. The Payment Attempts panel doesn't appear for anyone else. See Members and permissions.
Set up your payment info
- Open your band, then Edit band and the Contact & booking tab. The Edit payment info button in the Payment Attempts panel takes you straight there.
- Under Get paid, fill in any of these:
- Venmo handle: your Venmo username, without the @.
- PayPal.me handle: the name from your paypal.me link. If you don't have one, set it up at paypal.com/paypalme.
- Zelle email or Zelle phone: whatever your bank's Zelle account uses.
- Click Update band.
You only need one. Leave a field blank and that button won't show.
Where fans see it
Once you've added payment info, a Support box appears on:
- your public band page,
- your public gig pages,
- your public album pages. If you set a suggested donation on an album, it's picked for the fan.
Fans pick an amount ($5, $10, $20, $50 or their own), add a note if they like, and click a payment button:
- Venmo opens Venmo with your handle, the amount and the note filled in. It also shows a QR code, handy when the fan is on a computer and wants to pay from their phone.
- PayPal opens your paypal.me page with the amount filled in.
- Zelle shows your Zelle email or phone, the amount and the note, so they can send it from their bank's app.
Each note starts with "Tip via The Band Plan for" and your band's name, so you can spot these payments in your Venmo or PayPal history.
See payment attempts
The Payment Attempts panel in your band page's left sidebar shows the latest three. Click View All Payments for the full list, with the amount, the date, the payment method, which page it came from (band, gig or album), and the fan's note.
An attempt isn't a payment
The Band Plan only sees the click. The money moves inside Venmo, PayPal or the fan's bank, so we can't tell whether they finished paying. Someone might click and then change their mind. Check your Venmo, PayPal or bank account to see what actually came in.
The Band Plan doesn't take a cut. Payments go straight to you.
