Your band's public page is its website and press kit in one, at thebandplan.com/your-band-name. You choose what goes on it, and the page only shows the sections you've filled in. To see it the way fans and venues do, read Public band pages.
Open the editor
Click Edit band profile under the band name at the top of your band's page. You can also click Edit Page at the bottom of your public page. Either way you land on the Public page tab.
By default, Principal, Core and Manager members can edit the public page. See Members and permissions.
The editor has three tabs:
- Public page: everything on this page except contact details.
- Contact & booking: band name, website, booking contact and tip details. See Contact and tips.
- Music identity: links your band to its artist so covers and originals sort correctly. See Band identity.
Make the page public
- Under Public page settings, pick Your public URL. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, at least 3 characters. Each address can only belong to one band.
- Turn on Make this band page public.
- Click Save public page info.
Until you do, the address shows "This page doesn't exist or isn't available yet." You can also use the Make public switch under the band name. If the band doesn't have an address yet, it takes you to the editor to pick one.
The Preview box on the right shows whether the page is public, lets you copy the address, and has View public page. Its checklist shows what's still missing, and the EPK chip under your band name suggests what to add next.
Name, bio and details
These all go in Public page settings:
- Tagline: a short line under the band name.
- Bio: the About section. If it's empty, the page uses the description from the Contact & booking tab.
- Genres: hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) to pick more than one. They show under the band name and in About.
- Hometown and Formed year.
- Mailing list signup: puts the Get updates form at the bottom of the page or top right. You only see this option when signup is turned on in the band menu's Fan email panel.
Click Save public page info when you're done. Until you save, your changes are kept as a draft in this browser only. If you come back later, you'll see "Draft restored!"
Covers we play
This list comes from the covers in your repertoire, with the most-played artists first. Click the x on an artist to leave them off your page and press kit, then click Save covers list. Reset brings everyone back, and Copy list copies the names to paste somewhere else.
If one of your own artists shows up as a cover, link it in the Music identity tab.
Press and reviews
Add quotes from reviews, venues and press. Each one needs the quote and who said it. The source, like a magazine or venue name, is optional. Click Add quote.
Quotes show on your public page and in the press pack, in the order listed. Use the arrows to move a quote, Edit to change it, or the trash can to delete it.
Photos and logos
Upload a photo, or add one from a link with From URL (JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 20 MB). Pick a category:
- Performance Photo, Event Poster, Promo Shot and General each get their own section on the page.
- Logo goes in Band Logos. Click Primary on a logo to put it at the top of the page.
Tick Don't show on public band page to keep a photo in your library for social posts without putting it on the page. You can switch any photo between Show and Hide later.
Photos also live in the band's Media library.
Videos
- External videos: paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, or a direct link to an MP4, MOV or WebM file.
- Band recordings: pick a video from your setlist or song recordings.
Give each one a title and an optional description. Drag videos under Public page order to change the order fans see.
Audio samples
- External audio: paste a Spotify track, SoundCloud, Bandcamp or YouTube page, or a direct MP3 or WAV link. The editor checks whether it will play right on your page. Use the address from your browser, not a share link from a phone app.
- Band recordings: pick a song from a split setlist recording or a song recording.
You can rename a track for your page and add a description.
Videos and audio taken from band recordings use the original file. If someone deletes that recording, take it off your page too.
Social links
Pick a platform, paste the full address, and add your @handle if you like. Links show in the Connect section at the bottom of your page.
Contact and tips
On the Contact & booking tab:
- Contact name, email and phone appear behind Show Contact Information, so spam bots can't collect them.
- Website URL adds a Visit Website button.
- Venmo, PayPal.me and Zelle turn on the tip jar on your public, gig and album pages. See Payment attempts.
Click Update band to save this tab. Editing your band profile covers every field on it, including the booking pitch.
What fills in by itself
- Albums: published albums show automatically. See The albums panel.
- Upcoming Shows: your next 10 confirmed gigs, starting today. See Managing gigs.
- Band Members: everyone set to Show on public page in the band menu's Members panel. A member's name only links to their profile if that profile is public.
- Download Press Pack: appears once there's something to put in it.
Storage
Photos count toward your band's storage total, not against any one member. You still need some room in your own storage to upload them. Videos and audio from links take no storage, and ones from band recordings reuse files that are already counted. See Storage.
